I'm going to talk about different approaches used by hypnotists and hypnotherapists,I will not be teaching them here but I find myself faced with a form of internal conflict and I just need to get it out.
Before I start I want to first say that all techniques and approaches if they help people then there good so here goes and do feel free to leave a comment thank you.
I get questions at time about different things like, is such a technique better then this one, what kind of approach do you use and so forth then there are questions about should I trust some one with 14 hours of training or 48 or 114. Well let me start with have you met the hypnotist yet?, is he certified ?, does his approach or his way of explaning what he can do to help you sound and feel right to you if so then go for it if not find some one else. As for thecniques well some will use specific techniques like Ericksonian,Elman or have specific names for there type of practice like sofrology hypnosis, waken hypnosis, spiritual hypnosis, positive hypnosis and at times they will say hypnotherapy in stead of hypnosis and there all fine and great, then you have Kappasinian hypnosis or hypnotherapy as well so lets look at some of these more closely.
ericksonian, created by Dr Milton Erickson and is considered by many as the godfather of hypnotherapy where his induction to the treatment is done through stories(imagery) and what we now call NLP(neuro linguistic programming), Elman a combination of stage inductions reconfigured for theraputic uses and a more direct approach to therapy. Then there is Sofrology which is like I mentioned in an earlier post NLP exercises and hypnosis using NLP techniques (something we already do in hypnosis) Waken hypnosis(NLP EXERCISES used in a hypnotic state with the client eyes remaining open, Spiritual hypnosis which is very close to medical hypnosis where we use imagery to help the mind body and soul heal or visualize the body healing to help with some discomfort issues and the using regression as a tool for therapy and positive hypnosis using a positive approach to therapy knowing that all hypnotherapy should always be a positive approach and experience. Then there is Kappasinian, well only a few people here in Quebec realy know what that means it is a positive approach to a non direct form of therapy using personalized approches to every client with every thing and every technique you know but the first induction is done in a way that they garenty that anyone who steps into your office will go into the hypnotic state. I can say this because that was what I studied and found fit what I was looking for.
Yes there are doctors and psychologists even psychiatrists that specialize in certain fields of there work but before they specialized they did do the regular stuff to so even if they specialized it does not mean they can not treat other things but that is not always true in hypnothrapy because a person can specialize in one technique or approach like some one specialized in NLP will use that more then anything else and will advertise as such and some one in medical hypnosis will do just that not knowing how to help some one quit smoking and then there are those who learn as much as possible even if they seem to specialize or not.
Take me for exemple, I have done a lot of work with children and ADD or ADHD also a lot of work with rape or insest clients. Do I want to me known for just that well I will take it if that is the case but I would rather be known for my work in hypnosis and hypnotherapy in general that is why I refuse to become narow minded and learn as many techniques approachs ways of helping as possible and yes I will studie them until I master them before I use them.
Why limite yourself to helping a few people when you can learn to help every one. know as for training times, for any or all basic training classes being 14 hours to 48 hours they are what they are basic training I remember a certain issue in the news last summer that went nuts over a young hypnotist with 14 hours of training, well he got a basic hypnosis class that teaches how hypnosis works and how to hypnotise it was not a class on how to do hypnosis shows but what they still do not mention is that this class was take a year before the event and that this young hypnotist had stage experiance in his family as well. it does not take years to learn how to hypnotise some people pick it up from youtube. As for hypnotherapy well that is up to the client to decide a person can have 48 hours of training and no experiance or they can have years of experiance helping people and listening to people Take me for example, people would open up and talk to me about there problem through out my schooling then magic became a pation and eventually hypnosis as I got older people started asking about helping them with issues so I decided to get certified and as I did my training(2 years worth) I quickly realized I knew less about hypnosis then I though and I would read anything I could get my hands on from books by Erickson and Elman to books by Freud and other psychology books that had chapters on hypnosis and even today I am still learning not just about the state of hypnosis but human behavior and that is something I am glad to say will never stop and if ever you think you are the best and that you have the one true approch or technique then you can always talk to Johnathan Chase who is a well known hypnotist and hypnotherapist that is also known for not holding back and speaking his mind.
I do not know if this will help people chose there hypnotherapists or not but it did help me fix my internal conflict so just keep in mind that the more your therapist knows the better your treatment will be.
Oh one more thing there is no such thing as stander hypnosis or hypnotherapy or special hypnotherapy or hypnosis because there is only the state of hypnosis(the same thing for every one) and then there are the tools the hypnotist or hypnotherapist decide to use

Smoking cessation
Smoking, how can we quit?,how hard can it be? what tools are available to help us do this?
There are so manu questions people ask them selves when they stop smocking and yet the one most important question is usualy not asked by your doctor or enen yourself.
Do I realy want to quit? Keep in mind that what you may think you want consciously is not nessarally the same subconsciously so they answer to that question can be yes(consciously) and no(subconsciously). what is out there to help?
Well there are Patchs and pills and fake cigarettes then theres gum and Lazer in the ear acu[ucture and acupressur and finaly hypnosis. We all know that there are other things in cigarettes then nicoteen and that it is bad for you, we also know about the chemicals but then what about the habit?
What if there was something about cigarettes you don't know like 24 hours after you stop smoking that you have no nicoteen in your system or that 48 hours after you have also eliminated all the chemicals or that there is sugar in cigarettes. Do the patches and pills or gum still make sence and if they do how do they work what are they realy doing? Well they actualy do work for most people but not all people why?
Most somkers have seen the comercialsherd or read about them so they have been influanced by them and believe in them where others do not get effected by this and these commerials create the belief structure in your mind using BLP techniques that are used to help create this new belief so they work for some people, the same can be said for laser treatments acupucture and acupressur even hypnosis..
The patchs keep nicoteen in your system so does the gum and pills but what about the habit it's self ? none of the treatments tend to the habits or yje triggers that make the smocker get his or her cravings exept one yet they do work for that percentage of people who's suggestibility allowed there belief struckture to change. Where are the habits and belif strucktures located in the mind?
In the subconscious mind of coarse, but even the subconscious mind can refuse suggestions so why would hypnosis be a solution for some but a tool to help for otheres? Well for those who want to quit consciously and subconsciously like for the other treatments it becomes a solution where if subconsciously the person does not truly want to stop then iy becomes a tool that will help reduce the amount of smoking and it can also be combined with other treatments to help achieve the final goal of eventually quiting all together and that is what will help your hypnotherapist determine if you can follow a shot and quick stop session or if you should follow a program to gradually stop to avoid internal conflicts with your subconscious mind.

The mind / Le Cerveau
The mind is a mistirious place, science has mapped it out and has found new discoveries like neuroplasticity, but what is neuroplasticity, well where to start would be a good question so let me start from the beginning then.
Remember we used to say the mind was like a sponge well that is true it is constantly learning and when the mind learns it creates neuropathways in order to find the information you have learned or already know how to do and this is true for everything not just for information but also for movement and other body functions.
Research has shown how using hypnosis combined with physiotherapy helps regain movement in patients that have lost said movement after many problems like heart attacks a lot faster and that many hypnotherapist do promote such help and in many cases hypnosis and hypnotherapy can help, if the damage is not in the mind. if something happens to the brain then it is possible that the region that is affected controls what you are trying to work on and as many people learned through disappointment can not be done.
"If the path exists in the mind then it can be done" is a quote from a well know hypnotherapist (Johnathan Chase) who has a paralisis in his legs and has gone out of his way with an open mind to see people who claim they can fix neurological ilness or problems only to prove his point. That point is if something happens to the mind that erases the known of how something is done and is not a secondairy effect to the said damage then the path is no more but if it is a secondairy effect then the path is still there thus still a known to the mind and can be helped or even re routed not physically but through the neuroplasticity of the mind.
My advice to any hypnotherapist who offers to help some one with such serious issues would be to get informed do the research put in the time to learn your clients medical history in regards to the symptoms you want to help with and always ,and I must insist you must always explained that you can not guaranty a result but that you will do the best to your abilities to achieve the goal you are hoping for. because we are not doctors but if we work with them as professionals then we may find better ways together to help people.
Our number one rule is do no harm and giving false hope could break that rule and that is not something we want to do

NLP techniques and the diffrent names the exercises get
I am often asked about different techniques that are starting to surface in the self improvement department.
Honestly what ever works for you is great because it works so you feel better. There are things like Sophrology, imagery, NLP oriental meditation and positive thinking and it is a general rule that 5% of any self help modalities will work for some one and most if not all are based in NLP, if the techniques of NLP are used properly then all the techniques that it is properly applied to will work for that 5% my only advice is make sure you see a qualified specialist that way you will be sure to get the proper treatment to fit your specific needs
